Advanced National Certificate in Animal Care
An advanced course for students wishing to develop skills at a supervisory level required to work in the animal industry.


Entry Requirements
Applicants must be over 17 years of age, possess a National Certificate in Animal Care or equivalent and be looking to a supervisory post in the animal care industry.

  • Enterpise Management
  • Advanced Animal Health and Housing
  • Advanced Animal Feeding and Breeding
  • Advanced Science
  • Animal Behaviour
  • Advanced Animal Grooming
  • Husbandry of Exotic Animals
  • Advanced Horse Husbandry


How is the course taught?
Lectures and workshops to provide underlying knowledge and tutorials and seminars to promote discussion.

How is the course assessed?
Practical skills, written assessments, projects and assignments, Final externally assessed test and an externally set 3 hour short answer examination.

Length Of Course
One Year.  Min 15 hours per week

Progression / Career opportunities
Successful completion could lead to Higher Education or supervisory positions in the animal industry.
