Alison Scattergood receives her Master Barber award from Chris Moon

Barbering Lecturer Becomes The Master

An East Durham College barbering lecturer has added another milestone to her illustrious career.

Top crimper, Alison Scattergood, from Peterlee, was last night presented with a special plaque as she was made a British Masters Barber.

This is the second level awarded by the British Master Barbers Alliance, after the Professional level and before the Grand Master level.

Alison has become the first woman to be given the honour, which has only a small number of recipients.

Nationally renowned barber, Chris Moon, who also holds Master status, presented the award and plaque to Alison at East Durham College’s Peterlee Campus, and praised her for her hard work to get to where she is today.

Chris said: “This is a huge achievement for Alison and not many people currently have British Masters Barbers status.

“Alison is a fantastic barber and, along with her own skills, the work she puts in to mould the barbers of tomorrow here at East Durham College doesn’t go unnoticed.

“Congratulations to Alison and it’s great to have her aboard as a British Masters Barber.

Alison added: “This is a huge achievement for me and I am so shocked, it’s a huge surprise.

“Being made a British Masters Barber is a huge honour and to become the first female to receive this status is a very proud moment.”
