Overview of the course: 

The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Nail Treatments is a substantial vocational course that will prepare you for a career as a nail technician. Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology. You will develop a range of technical skills along with interpersonal and communication skills.

Entry requirements: 

Previous attainment of a Level 1 Beauty Therapy or a successful interview and skills test. Learners under 19 years of age will need to complete functional skills or GCSE depending on qualifications already achieved.

Topics: 

The content of this qualification is comprised of mandatory units in providing manicure treatments, nail art, add nail extensions, health and safety, client care and communication.

How is the course assessed?: 

The course is assessed through online tests, assignments and practical assessment. Students are expected to perform work experience through external and internal theatrical events and shows.

Further study options after this course: 

Progression options include progression onto Level 3 Diploma in Nail Services.

Fees: 

If you have been a UK resident for the past 3 years and are under the age of 19 on the 31st August, you will not usually need to pay any course fees.

If you are aged 19-23 on the day your main course starts and do not have a level 2 or above qualification you may not have any fees to pay.

If you do have a level 2 or above qualification or you are aged 24 years or over and employed on the day your main course starts fees for this course are payable. However if you are in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance or Employment Support Allowance in the Work Related Activity Group or other work related benefit and you are undertaking this qualification to find work, your fees may be paid by the Government.

If you do need to pay fees they are:

There is a requirement to purchase equipment for this course. The cost of equipment is to be confirmed. Students with limited income can claim up to 75% of these costs. Further information will be sent to you closer to enrolment in August if you are accepted on to the course.
