This qualification is designed for learners wishing to pursue a career as an employed and / or self employed beauty therapist. Upon completion of this qualification learners will be eligible to become members of the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) or the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT). Employment opportunities may include; Destination or Day Spas, Health Farms, Cruise Liners, Airlines, Hotel Chains, Commercial Salons, Care Homes, Independent/Self Employed/Mobile or Home Based Settings.

Overview of the course: 

This qualification is designed for learners who wish to pursue a career as a beauty therapist. Learners will develop knowledge, understanding and skills to consult with clients and provide a wide range of of specialised facial and body treatments. Students will also develop knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and other related essential knowledge. Learners will work in a busy commercial salon environment and develop communication and customer service skills together with research and problem solving skills.

Entry requirements: 

It is expected students will have achieved either one of the following qualifications.

How is the course assessed?: 

Students are assessed throughout the course and there will be one graded synoptic practical assessment.
Learners will also produce a portfolio of evidence to meet learning outcomes as specified.
There will be two externally assessed question papers throughout the year which are externally marked and graded by the examination board.

The overall grade for the qualification will be assessed as Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*.

Further study options after this course: 

The primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare learners for employment, however upon completion of this course learners may choose to progress to Level 4 in Salon Management and Advanced Beauty Therapy Techniques.

Fees: 

Fees for this course are: £3345.00

If you have been a UK resident for the past 3 years and are under the age of 19 on the 31st August, you will not usually need to pay any course fees.

If you are aged 19-23 on the day your main course starts and do not have a level 3 or above qualification you may not have any fees to pay.

If you do have a level 3 or above qualification or you are aged 24 years or over on the day your main course starts you may be able to take out an Advanced Learning Loan to pay for this course.

There is a requirement to purchase equipment for this course. The cost of equipment is around £120. Students with limited income can claim up to 75% of these costs. Further information will be sent to you closer to enrolment in August if you are accepted on to the course.
