Bracken & Gavin Crowded Top Dog

East Durham College held their first ever Dog Show at their Houghall Campus on Wednesday 24th June 2009. The judges for the show were; Peter Whitfield, Programme Leader and Jean Parsonage, Lecturer in Dog Grooming. The event stewards were Sadie Holmes and Pip Smith, students on a National Diploma in Animal Management course.

The overall best in show went to Bracken, Labrador, handled by Gavin Stewart. Bracken was described as an attractive bitch with a lovely coat, well presented, sweet head and good eye colouring. She showed good controlled movement and was shown by her handler to a very high standard.

John Reid, Programme Leader for Animal Care, commented, “Everyone involved did a brilliant job and the Animal Care Unit are very grateful, as without their help the day would not have been such a great success. The day was also helped by the good weather!”
