Companies Visit Technical Academy For 2016 Trade Day
East Durham College’s Technical Academy has hosted its 2016 trade Day event.
A wide range of companies from the construction, building and engineering industry attended the event to give demonstrations of their latest product innovations and new technology.
Over 25 companies attended at the Palmer Road site including BAL, Baxi, Eagle Welding, Grundfos, Keepmoat, Knauf, Makita, Mapei UK, Rubi, Genesis, CTD, Esh Group, Terraclean and Screwfix.
Along with these companies’ stands from other areas exhibited on the day including National Citizen Service, Prince’s Trust, Durham Police, and the NHS.
Rob Hutchinson, Centre Manager and Stakeholder Engagement at the Academy, believes that these events are a fantastic opportunity for the students to meet industry face to face and provides them with a unique way of learning.
Rob said: “The aim of this event was to bring industry and our students together and in doing so give our valued stakeholders the platform to showcase the very latest technology, products and practices that are now being used in the industry.
“These types of events are invaluable; they really help to enhance the learners training and raise their aspirations.”
Part of East Durham College, The Technical Academy is located in a 30,000 sq. Ft. purpose-built facility on Peterlee’s South West Industrial Estate. A wide range of courses in the construction industry are on offer at the site including Motor Vehicle, tiling, plumbing & heating, gas, electrical engineering and fitted interiors.
