Dressmaking (crafts) - College Certificate

Course Level:

College Certificate

Overview of the course:

Lorna King, has taught for many years in Further Education, with families, and in one to one sessions. She enjoys helping people to create, develop confidence and skills using textiles, hand and machine stitch, rag rugs, knitting, papers, paint, folding, manipulating and much more. She now has the pleasure of teaching workshops for East Durham College where you will all be able to take home a personal piece of work that you have designed and made.
Her workshops aim to be creative and fun. Beginners, intermediate and confident abilities, all are welcome. A lot of her personal work is made with recycled materials and objects but you may use your own personal stash!
A favourite for many is sewing machine skills where you will learn how to use your own machine, maintenance, all the stitches and feet that you may never have tried before creating a range of stitch samples for reference. These can then be further developed into fashion items, children’s clothes, toys, soft furnishings, home accessories, textile accessories and art textiles.
