Dry Felt Making (Crafts)

Overview of the course: 

Lorna King, has taught for many years in further education, with families, and in one to one sessions. She enjoys helping people to create, develop confidence and skills using textiles, hand and machine stitch, rag rugs, knitting, papers, paint, folding, manipulating and much more. She now has the pleasure of teaching workshops for East Durham College where you will all be able to take home a personal piece of work that you have designed and made.
Her workshops aim to be creative and fun. Beginners, intermediate and confident abilities, all are welcome. A lot of her personal work is made with recycled materials and objects but you may use your own personal stash!

Entry requirements:

Topics: 

Create dry felt using Merino fleece, with felting needles. Fine fabrics such as silk, chiffon and muslin can be included to create a new fabric. Create 3D pieces such as birds, animals and more with the same technique with a few pipe-cleaners and your imagination.
I will also demonstrate the use of an embellishing machine which works well for creating art textiles that can be decorated with hand or machine embroidery.
Requirements for dry felting include:
some plain white pipe-cleaners. I will bring in some felting needles and hard foam sponge for you to work on.
