Dance Stars Set To Host Workshop At East Durham College
East Durham College’s Peterlee campus will be hosting two very special dance workshops being run by three of the country’s leading professional dancers.
Winners of Sky 1’s national dance talent show, Got To Dance, Chris and Wes, and contemporary dance artist and current member of the renowned Southpaw dance company Katie Webster, will be visiting the college on Saturday 7th November.
Chris and Wes's big break came in 2011 when they won Sky 1's smash hit, prime time entertainment show 'Got to Dance' hosted by Davina McCall. The boys wowed celebrity judges and dance icons Ashley Banjo, Kimberley Wyatt and Adam Garcia with their unique, fun, comedic and energetic style.
The pair have been choreographing and dancing together ever since, including strutting their stuff on stage behind Cheryl Cole when she performed at the Royal Albert Hall for Children in Need.
Katie’s career started when she attended the northern school of contemporary dance, she then went on to train for a postgraduate diploma at London’s contemporary dance school. Since studying she has worked all over the world with some of the most influential and inspiring choreographers of our time.
East Durham College dance teacher, Kayleigh Gage, believes this is a great opportunity for dancers in the local area to come along and learn from some top stars.
Kayleigh said: “It’s a great honour to be able to put on these workshops at the college.
“Chris, Wes and Katie are all top stars and it’s a fantastic opportunity for dancers within the local area to come and learn some tips from the best. I can’t wait for the day!”
The workshops will be separate, with Chris and Wes first taking a street dance workshop before Katie delivers her contemporary workshop.
The two workshops will be held at East Durham College’s Peterlee campus on Saturday 7th November between 10.30 and 13.30 priced at £20 each.
