Dance Students Gear Up For Theatre Showcase

East Durham College’s Dance Academy students are putting the final touches together ahead of a major performance this weekend.

The students will be taking part in The Big Dance Showcase event this Saturday at Durham’s Gala Theatre.

The event has been set up to give young dancers in the County Durham area the opportunity to perform in a theatre in front of a large audience.

Along with the representatives of the East Durham College Dance Academy, there will be eight other schools and community groups taking part in the evening.

East Durham College Dance Coach, Kayleigh Gage, hailed the event as a fantastic opportunity for her students and dancers to get valuable experience of a large scale show.

Kayleigh said: “It’s great to have been asked to be part of The Big Dance Showcase. It’s a great event for dancers in the region to be involved with.

“It gives dancers of all ages the opportunity to get out there on a prestigious stage within our region and perform for a large audience, which will only help them improve and help their confidence.

“The students at the College’s Dance Academy have put in some really hard training and practice ahead of the event, so naturally they can’t wait to get out there and put on a great performance.”
