The amateur competition includes classes for flowers, fruit, vegetables, food and art. Staging will take place on Friday 28th with judging on Saturday morning.

Horticultural stands confirmed include, North of England Bonsai, North East of England Orchid Society, Halls of Heddon and Butterwick Trees, amongst many others.

East Durham College events coordinator and Durham Flower Festival Show Secretary, Dianne Howe, said: “This is an incredibly exciting event to be working on and we are so pleased to be again hosting a flower show for the region at our Houghall Campus.

“The feedback from exhibitors and the public following the 2014 show was so positive we decided we must do it again and try to grow the show to give the local region a large horticultural festival to add to their diaries for years to come.

The Durham Flower Festival will take place across the weekend of Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August 2015, running from 10.30am till 5.00pm each day.

Admission to the flower show will be priced at £5 per adult and children under 16 enter for free. Free onsite car parking is available at the Houghall Campus for visitors and refreshments will be available onsite.
