College Gets Involved With The Great Sunday Lunch

You are invited to come and enjoy a fantastic Sunday Lunch at Scene1, East Durham College’s Gourmet restaurant, as part of The Great Sunday Lunch, on Sunday 18th October 2009.

The Great Sunday Lunch is all about family, friends and neighbours getting together to enjoy lunch and raising platefuls of money for Age Concern and Help the Aged!

It’s an unpalatable truth that many older people in the UK are lonely and poorly treated. Nearly half of older people in the UK, aged 65+, consider the television as their main form of company. Some 600,000 older people leave their house just once a week or less frequently. Sunday is often the loneliest day of the week for older people, as it is the day traditionally associated with family get-togethers.

The Great Sunday Lunch is an opportunity to remember that no one should have to eat Sunday lunch alone, and that older people should be included as valued members of communities and families.

The 3-course lunch will cost £10 per head, with all the profits going to Age Concern and Help the Aged.  Please book early to avoid disappointment.

To reserve a table please call Scene1 on 0191 518 8302.
