East Durham College Graduation Ceremony 2009
Over 1,000 full-time students at East Durham College attended the annual graduation ceremony. This was the second time the ceremony has taken place, following the success for last year, and is now an important part of the College calendar.
The ceremony was a chance to celebrate and reflect on the hard work and dedication the students had shown over the last academic year. Each student was presented with a certificate in recognition of completing their course.
The presentations were made by; Ian Prescott, Principal & Chief Executive; Ian Williams, Chair of the Corporation; Sue Reece, Deputy Chair of the Corporation; and Bill Marley, Governor.
Ian Prescott said, “This is a superb occasion. Our students should be very proud of what they have achieved and I’m delighted that this event, recognising their tremendous efforts, has proved to be so popular with all the students who attended. I wish those students leaving the College every success in their next venture, I’m sure they will go on to great things. And to those coming back in September, I’m sure it will be another fantastic year at East Durham College.”
Jane Pringle, Curriculum Manager of Land Based provision at the Houghall Campus commented, “I am really proud of our land based learners who have worked extremely hard to complete their courses. Their enthusiasm has shone through and was particularly evident at the graduation ceremony held today at our Peterlee Campus. I would like to thank all the students and the staff for making this such a successful year. Well done everyone!”
