The Engage programme is designed to prepare you for employment or further education or training. You will learn and practice the skills that many employers may be looking for in an employee. The course is also great to get you back into education and will prepare you for further study at an appropriate level. There may also be opportunities to progress into an apprenticeship or to further training in a particular area.

Overview of the course: 

Engage is an Employability programme which will cover a range of activities to help you to gain more confidence in choosing/achieving your next step. You will work towards an Employability Qualification, as well as a Maths and/or English qualification if required. Preparation for work will be undertaken in the classroom environment as well as an opportunity to gain work place skills out on a placement. Classroom activities will include theory sessions as well as an opportunity for group work, discussions and IT work, and there will also be an element of self-directed study included in the programme.

Entry requirements: 

There are no formal entry requirements. The programme is aimed at learners who are not currently in education, employment or training.

How is the course assessed?: 

You will be assessed throughout the course by completing a portfolio in which evidence will be collected and presented. Maths and English will be assessed by presentations and examinations.

Progression to a specific vocational area within College or employment.

Length of the course: 

The programme is individualised to learner’s needs and levels. Your programme could be 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 26 weeks or 36 weeks; dependent on the time of year you commence and your individual goals.
