C&G Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Equine Management
Following successful completion of this course you may be able to pursue a career in the land-based sector as a yard supervisor, equine veterinary nurse, event, show jump or dressage groom, , RSPCA inspector or retail assistant in a tack shop. Progression to an apprenticeship in the horse care industry may also be an option to enable you to gain more experience working hands-on. This course is also a great route into higher education and degree courses such as equine management, equine science, equine behaviour and welfare, equine business management and veterinary nursing.
The course runs over 2 years with successful completion of year 1 resulting in you achieving a Level 3 subsidiary diploma in horse management. The second year ensures you will gain credits to achieve the Level 3 extended diploma in horse management. You will cover a mixture of theory and practical topics and get hands-on experience working on the Houghall equine unit. The equine unit houses a range of horses suitable for beginners to more advanced riders. You will have the opportunities to work with the full range of horses and learn how to look after horses correctly in a commercial setting.
Direct Entry: At least five GCSEs ay grade 4-5 or above including maths, English and science.
Progressive entry: Level 2 diploma in horse care at merit or above with a distinction grade in horse biology and a minimum of level 1 maths and English. Attendance at 85%+ for previous year and satisfactory standards of behaviour.
Topics covered in the course include:
Year 1 (Subsidiary Diploma) - Animal health, animal biology, work-related experience, business, riding, event management, yard management, presentation of horses, and ground schooling.
Year 2 (Extended Diploma) - Anatomy and physiology, nutrition, behaviour, riding - jumping, horse tack and equipment, estate skills and equine teaching.
You will be assessed throughout the course through a series of assignments, practical assessments, written tests, and presentations.
1 Year, full time. You may complete a second year and move on to the Extended Diploma. There is an additional fee for year 2.

Fees for this course are: £4425.00
If you have been a UK resident for the past 3 years and are under the age of 19 on the 31st August, you will not usually need to pay any course fees.
If you are aged 19-23 on the day your main course starts and do not have a level 3 or above qualification you may not have any fees to pay.
If you do have a level 3 or above qualification or you are aged 24 years or over on the day your main course starts you may be able to take out an Advanced Learning Loan to pay for this course.
Fees may apply for equipment costs for all students, however financial help may be available. Further information will be sent to you closer to enrolment in August if you are accepted on to the course.
