Free Arriva Bus Service To Continue In 2016-17
East Durham College is pleased to announce that it will once again be offering a free bus service to students from across the north east region, in partnership with Arriva.
The college will continue for a second year working with the transport giant to offer all its students a free and convenient bus services across the north east.
Students will simply need to show their valid college ID badge to jump on any Arriva bus during term-time, Monday to Friday, up till 9pm.
So that will mean no hanging about after lessons waiting for a late afternoon college chartered bus to get home.
The College, with campuses in Peterlee and Durham, offers the bus service, covering all campuses, to any students on funded full or part-time courses, completely free of charge.
Arriva offers a comprehensive timetable for services around the region making all our college campuses in Peterlee and Durham easily accessible to students around the north east.
Suzanne Duncan, principal at East Durham College, said: “It really is great to have this opportunity to offer our students free travel once again with Arriva.
“One of the biggest barriers to young people accessing a quality college education is the cost of transportation.
“Also as a College that offers a number of specialised curriculum areas, such as the land based and animal care courses at Houghall, plus our highly regarded sport academies and sport scholarships, we have students from across the region wanting to attend our college so we want to be able to give them easy access.
“So having the option to use the Arriva bus services for free throughout the region will give students greater access from home to our campuses and back again throughout the day.”
