Fun Start For New Students At Freshers’ Fayre
The new set of students have enrolled on their courses and are preparing to get their head down for the hard work ahead, but not before a little fun first.
The East Durham College Students’ Union have taken over the college’s Peterlee and Houghall campus to offer students a little bit of light relief before they start work on their courses.
The week saw a host of entertainment with activities such as rodeo bull, bungee run, inflatable obstacle course, and sports teams try outs and tournaments.
Along with this there were information stands from East Durham Trust, National Union of Students, Bite the Ballot, NHS Mental Health Trust, NHS Blood Drive, Arriva, Durham Climbing Centre and Infinite Air Trampoline Park among many others.
The event was put together by EDC Students’ Union reps along with Student Liaison Officer Alfie Wilkinson, who hopes this week has helped to give the new students the chance to get settled into the college environment.
Alfie said: “This week has been fantastic. We have had loads of fun activities across our college campuses and all the new students have been getting involved.
“I want to say a big thanks to all the external exhibitors who came in to give our students advice across the week.
“The Freshers’ Fayre gives the students the opportunity to find out more about the college as they get started on their new courses and also mix with other new students as they start life at EDC.”
