Hairdressing & Barbering
The College’s large professional training and workrooms, combined with a dedicated commercial hair salon that's open to the public, provide an ideal environment for any student wanting to develop and progress their hairdressing skills.
The department offers learning opportunities both in a modern college environment and via a workbased apprenticeship route - allowing you to select the learning method which best suits you.
As well as the knowledge you will gain as part of your programme, students can also take advantage of a wide enrichment and events programme, which includes extensive competition work and training. Many of our present and past students have succeeded in winning prestigious competitions both regionally and at a national level.
The College is extremely proud to have won the Best North East College at the AHT Regional finals in 2011, 2013, 2014 & 2015.
Our strong links with the industry allow us to monitor and cascade emerging trends to students, allowing them to develop their skills further with organisations like Toni & Guy and Rusk Training.
Students are given the opportunity to attend one-day-a-week work placements, leading in many cases to employment.
The College has a fantastic hair and beauty salon which is a state-of-the-art training salon we are incredibly proud off.
