It’s not what you think, but East Durham College’s Houghall Campus is pleased to announce they will be running short courses in Falconry and also Bee Keeping.

The beginners’ falconry and owl course is a wonderful ‘hands-on’ opportunity, designed for those who have a general interest in birds of prey. The College provides everything that you need to fly our wonderful birds. You will fly them and learn about the practical, management and husbandry techniques.

The course will run on Saturday’s from 2pm till 4pm for 5 weeks, staring mid October and costs £85.

Courses in Bee Keeping will be starting at the College after an absence of over 10 years. The Introduction to Bee Keeping course will also run from the middle of October on a weekend and will be a 4 week course costing £40.

Spring 2011 will see the follow up course for the Bee Keeping when hive management and diseases will be the main topics. This will be a practical course.
