Completion of this qualification provides learners with progression opportunities to the Level 2 Diploma in Plastering or other Further Education Course, into employment as a trainee in the construction industry or an Apprenticeship.

Overview of the course: 

This Diploma provides candidates with a broad range of knowledge, understanding and skills training to become qualified within plastering. The qualification is aimed at students wishing to join the construction industry as plasterers.

Entry requirements: 

Minimum of 3 GCSE.

Topics: 

• Know how to carry out safe working practices in construction

• Knowledge of information, quantities and communicating with others

• Knowledge of building methods and construction technology

• Know how to prepare background surfaces and plaster materials

• Know how to apply plaster materials to internal backgrounds

• Know how to produce components from moulds

How is the course assessed?: 

Students are required to complete practical work, case studies, presentations, assignments and an online test. Assessments of candidates will be made by the course tutor.

Further study options after this course: 

Completion of this qualification provides learners with progression opportunities to the Level 2 Diploma in Plastering or further education. Progression may be to Diplomas, A Levels or into employment in the construction industry.

Length of the course: 

A one year programme in which knowledge is assessed via online end tests and practical assessments. Evidence is generated and presented in a portfolio.

Fees: 

If you have been a UK resident for the past 3 years and are under the age of 19 on the 31st August, you will not usually need to pay any course fees.

If you are aged 19+ years old you may be required to pay fees for your course, however if you are in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance or Employment Support Allowance in the Work Related Activity Group or other work related benefit and you are undertaking this qualification to find work, your fees may be paid by the Government.

Learners under 25 years old with a statement of Special Educational Needs or an Education, Health and Care Plan will not pay fees.

There is a requirement to wear personal protective equipment for this course. The cost of equipment is currently £25. Students with limited income can claim up to 75% of these costs. Further information will be sent to you closer to enrolment in August if you are accepted on to the course.
