Overview of the course: 

This qualification has a theory and practical content. Therefore it is expected that it is delivered in a work-shop and a classroom environment

Entry requirements: 

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification although at interview lecturers will ensure that learners have the potential to achieve the qualification units. This course is designed for learners who may have limited prior knowledge and understanding of the plumbing sector. Learners who are thinking about plumbing as a career but would like some experience of the job role first.

Topics: 

The fundamental knowledge and understanding required by someone aspiring to work in the plumbing industry. The qualification covers a wide range of subjects including: safe working practices, understanding environmental protection measures, understanding fundamental plumbing systems and understanding and demonstrating fundamental copper tube practical applications.

How is the course assessed?: 

All assessments within this qualification are externally set (by EAL), Centre marked assignments and practical assessments. The full requirements of the assessments are detailed within Section 6 of the EAL qualification manual.

Fees: 

If you have been a UK resident for the past 3 years and are under the age of 19 on the 31st August, you will not usually need to pay any course fees.

If you are aged 19+ years old you may be required to pay fees for your course, however if you are in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance or Employment Support Allowance in the Work Related Activity Group or other work related benefit and you are undertaking this qualification to find work, your fees may be paid by the Government.

Learners under 25 years old with a statement of Special Educational Needs or an Education, Health and Care Plan will not pay fees.

If you do need to pay fees they are:

Fees may apply for equipment costs for all students, however financial help may be available. Further information will be sent to you closer to enrolment in August if you are accepted on to the course.
