Scene 1 Set To Open Its Doors

East Durham College’s bistro-style restaurant Scene 1 is set to reopen its doors as the new academic term gets underway.

Now that the new academic year is once again in full swing Scene1, based in the College’s Peterlee Campus, on Willerby Grove, will be open Tuesday-Friday lunchtimes (12pm-2pm) as well as Tuesday evening (6pm-9pm) and Thursday evening (7pm-8.45pm) from Tuesday 22nd September.

Sharon Littler, Programme Leader for Hospitality & Catering, can’t wait to get back to full working order as the new students get the opportunity to put their new skills into practice in a working environment.

Sharon said: “The restaurant is a really important aspect of the training our students receive. It ensures they get real live experience of serving and cooking for real paying customers.

“It’s great when the restaurant is full as it puts the students under real pressure and teaches them how to cope with it - and that’s vital experience in this industry.”

The restaurant has a fully licensed bar and is a beautiful modern styled eatery. All the food is freshly prepared and made on the day, using high quality local fresh produce.
