Students Learn Skills Behind Radio
East Durham College students have spent three exciting days learning about behind the scenes of what goes into running a radio station.
A team of staff members from Bauer Media spent two days at the College’s Peterlee campus and a third day showing the students around Metro Radio’s Newcastle City centre-based studios.
The media students learnt a number of skills including radio programming and broadcasting and also about how to get into the media and radio industry.
Media lecturer at East Durham College’s sixth form, ED6, Mark Johnston thanked the team from Bauer Media for coming and working with the students, and helping them understand more about possible future careers in the industry.
Mark said: “It was a fantastic three days for the students, it was great for the team to come on down and show the students how a real radio station works.
“The students really enjoyed the sessions and also getting the opportunity to look round a real working radio station in Newcastle.
“The workshops were a real inspiration to some of these students who are hoping to go on to have a future in the media and radio industry.”
