NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties

This part time qualification aims to give learners knowledge of different Specific Learning Difficulties, how they are diagnosed and how individuals can be supported. The qualification can be used by a wide range of learners looking to improve their knowledge and awareness in this subject area.

The topics in the course include understanding specific learning difficulties, their characteristics and how to support individuals with these needs.

This includes:

Autism
Attention Deficit
Hyperactivity Disorder
(ADHD)/Attention Deficit
Disorder (ADD)
Dyslexia
Developmental Coordination
Disorder
Dyscalculia

This course may be used to enhance the knowledge of people who already work in people facing roles.

People may also use this qualification to support job applications including those people who want to work/volunteer in learning support, teaching assistant roles, Health and Social Care roles and much more.

Learners with this qualification may use it to demonstrate specialist knowledge to support applying to positions working in schools or health and social care and /or with individuals with learning difficulties. It also would also compliment other qualifications such as those who hold a childcare, health and social care or teaching assistant qualification.

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to level 2 and 3 qualifications in a related area This includes:

* Level 2 and 3 Certificates in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
• Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Working with Individuals with Learning Disabilities
• Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England
• Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism
• Level 2 and 3 qualifications in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities
• Level 2 and 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce
• Level 3 Award in Supporting Children and Young People’s Speech, Language and Communication

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.

The course is assessed by the course lecturer using a portfolio of evidence.

The course starts Thur 18th April 2024, 5.30pm.

The course is delivered one night per week for 12 weeks at our Peterlee Campus and starts at 5:30PM.

During the sessions students will engage in a range of learning activities including presentations, group activities, case studies and practical's using our state of the art facilities and equipment. Our highly supportive staff will support you in your time in college to develop the skills and knowledge you need to complete the course.
