Technical Academy Hosts Successful Annual Trade Day 2017
East Durham College’s Technical Academy has hosted a highly successful trade exhibition event today.
A wide range of companies from the construction, building and engineering industries exhibited at the event and gave demonstrations on their latest product innovations and new technologies.
Over a dozen organisation attended at the Palmer Road site on the Peterlee Business Park, including Baxi, Dunlop Pro Décor, Edmundson Electric, Eshwinning Construction, Fred Williamson Decorators Merchants, G and P Technology, Knauf, Makita, Megger, National Citizen Service (NCS), Pegler Yorkshire, Snap-on Industrial, The Army Reserves and TWI.
Rob Hutchinson, Centre Manager and Stakeholder Engagement at the Technical Academy, believes these events are a fantastic opportunity for the college’s students to meet key players in the trade face-to-face and provides them with a unique way of learning.
Rob said: “The aim of this event is to bring key players in a range of industry sectors and our students together, and in doing so give our valued stakeholders the platform to showcase the very latest technology, products and practices.
“These types of events are invaluable; they really help to enhance the learners training and also raise their future career aspirations.”
Part of East Durham College, The Technical Academy is located in a 30,000 sq. ft. purpose-built facility on Peterlee Business Park’s South West Industrial Estate. A wide range of construction and engineering related courses are on offer including welding, motor vehicle maintenance, plumbing & heating, gas, electrical and mechanical engineering.
