The College’s large professional workrooms, combined with a dedicated commercial hair salon open to the public, provide an ideal environment for any student wanting to develop and progress their hairdressing skills. The department offers learning opportunities both in a modern College environment and via a work-based apprenticeship route allowing you to select the learning method which best suits you. As well as the knowledge you will gain as part of your programme, students can also take advantage of a wide enrichment and events programme, which includes extensive competition work and training. Many of our present and past students have succeeded in winning prestigious competitions both regionally and on a national level. Our good links with industry allow us to monitor and cascade emerging trends to students, allowing them to develop their skills further with organisations including Toni & Guy and Goldwell Training. Students are given opportunities to attend one day a week work placement leading in some cases to employment. There is also an opportunity to have the status of an official state registered hairdresser given to the students on completion of level 2 programmes.
