16-19 Tuition Fund Statement (2020-21)
The 16 to 19 tuition fund is £96 million of one-off funding for the 2020 to 2021 academic year only, provided by the Department for Education. It is ring fenced funding for schools, colleges and all other 16 to 19 providers to mitigate the disruption to learning arising from coronavirus (COVID-19).
16-19 Tuition Fund Statement (2020-21 academic year)
The funding is being provided to support small group tuition for 16 to 19 students in English, maths, and other courses where learning has been disrupted.
East Durham College has committed to using the tuition funding to provide tailored support, in groups of no more than 5, to:
- learners who are studying for Basic Skills or GCSE maths and English qualifications.
- learners on vocational courses who may have missed out on developing specific practical skills.
- learners with special educational needs who have experienced additional disruption to learning as a result of their specific needs and disabilities.
- learners who will benefit from small group tuition who may have missed out on developing appropriate study skills.
Learners receiving support through the funding will not have achieved grade 5 or above in either English or maths at GCSE and will be enrolled onto a 16-19 study programme or be learners aged 19-24 who have and Education, Health and Care plan.
