Last Thursday students from the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy at East Durham College attended the official launch of the Future Business Magnates 2012 competition to give a presentation to the young business stars of tomorrow.
The competition will see Year 8 school pupils (aged 12 to 13-year-olds) from around County Durham compete in a number of business-related challenges and the students from East Durham College attended the event to show what their course entails and also to give them some guidance for their upcoming projects.
And lecturer Jill Campbell was impressed with the group’s presentation and hopes that they have been an inspiration to the young entrepreneurs in attendance.
Jill said: “This presentation was a huge opportunity for the students to showcase their skills and what they have been doing on their course since starting in September.
“The students were a huge credit to both themselves and the College itself.
“They went out and gave a very professional presentation which was insightful but also connected with the audience.”
The Level 3 Diploma in Understanding Enterprise and Entrepreneurship course at the new Peter Jones Enterprise Academy, East Durham College, which is the only one in County Durham, started this September.
The programme gives a vibrant mix of theoretical and practical skills. This includes classes covering sales, marketing and finance - with the added opportunity for internships, work placement and students’ developing their own businesses.
