Hair and beauty students from ten colleges across the region will compete in the North-East’s biggest hairdressing competition next month.
The regional heat of the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) competition takes place at the Federation Brewery, in Gateshead on Monday 1st March.
Teams from East Durham College, City of Sunderland College, New College Durham and South Tyneside College are amongst those taking part in the day-long competition.
East Durham College will take a 60 strong team to the competition.
Simon Smith, Head of Hair and Beauty at the College, said: "Traditionally we do very well in the competition and we hope to do the same this year. I think it’s great for the students, it motivates them and really lets them express themselves”.
The regional winners will go on to compete in the national final at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens on Sunday 21st and Monday 22nd March 2010.
