IT student Anthony Marrin has been recognised for his work and effort over the last month on his course by being awarded an East Durham College Student of the Month award.

Anthony, 16, from Seaham, who is studying the Level 2 Diploma in I.T at the College, received his award along with 10 other students at a ceremony at East Durham College’s Scene 1 restaurant on Monday.

Sarah Walt, Lecturer in IT, praised Anthony’s dedication and commitment to his course.

Sarah said: “Anthony is always the first person to class and has 100% attendance.

“He is extremely hard working and has already completed a full unit within just three weeks of starting the course and this is up to a distinction level for full unit.

“But that hasn’t stopped Anthony pushing himself and he is always asking me for feedback on his work, always looking for ways he can improve so he can achieve the highest grades.”

And Sarah believes Anthony is a model student and is not only excelling in his own work he is happy to help his peers in class.

Sarah added: “Anthony is always polite and adheres to all classroom rules, he never misbehaves.

“And when he can Anthony is always happy to help his classmates who may have fallen behind a little with their work.

“Anthony is a fantastic student, and has hit the ground running on the course and his aim is to achieve an overall Distinction grade. If he continues the way he has started I have no doubt he can achieve his goal.”
