Apprentice Flies Into Her Dream Job

A student from East Durham College has been rewarded for her enthusiasm and hard work after gaining a coveted Apprenticeship with a leading travel agent group.

Fay Gorton, aged 20 from Peterlee, who is currently enrolled on a Level 2 Travel and Tourism course at the College, has been taken on by north east travel giant Hays Travel.

The youngster has been chosen over 75 other applicants to work at the companies Peterlee branch.

Each year Hays Travel take on one apprentice for each of its branches, allowing students to gain real practical skills whilst studying towards their chosen career.

On gaining the Apprenticeship place Fay said: “I start in August and I’m so excited. It’s going to be great as I get to earn some money while gaining qualifications whilst doing my dream job!”

Branch Manager Catherine Raine added: “I picked Fay because she was brilliant when she came here on work placement and to top it off, she shone in her interview. We’re really looking forward to welcoming Fay to the team”.
