East Durham College recently hosted an exciting 2 day event, ran in conjunction with the Tees Valley Mohawks, to help promote basketball to the local community.

Over 30 local boys and girls, of all ages, got the opportunity to receive top class coaching from the National League 1 side and the new Head of Basketball at the College, Andrew Nyeko.

The event which took place last Thursday and Friday was declared a huge success. Rose Fraser, Sport Development Officer at the College said: “The event was a great success as we’ve helped make this minority sport a little more popular in an area that does not have a strong tradition of get involved in basketball.

“We have a great team in place to coach kids from as young as 6, right the way through to national league levels; this really is a fantastic development centre.”
