We offer a wide variety of beauty courses, all taught at our Willerby Grove campus in Peterlee.
Full-Time Beauty Therapy Courses
For those wanting to study full time, we offer various diplomas from Level 1 to 3 in beauty therapy. These courses teach you everything there is to know about beauty therapy, from applying basic makeup to carrying out massages to advanced work such as beauty treatments using machinery. As with all of our courses, learners can benefit from our links with employers in our region such as Seaham Hall Serenity Spa, where many learners have gone on to work after college.
East Durham College also has a full-time course programme in Theatrical Makeup. This course will teach you how to create stunning special effects makeup, ranging from simple paint application to the creation of advanced prosthetics. If you've got a real flair for art, this could be a fantastic course for you to consider.
Part-Time Beauty Therapy Courses
Ideal for adults looking to retrain, or those already in the beauty industry and wanting to increase their skills further, East Durham College's part-time beauty therapy courses will help you to expand your career in beauty.
Some of the most popular courses we do include our Nail Technology courses; ran regularly throughout the year, these part-time nail courses will train you as a nail technician, usually on an evening. For beginners, a Level 2 course is available, with the ability to progress onto Level 3 afterwards.
The college also offers regular part-time course programmes in other beauty treatments, such as St Tropez Spray Tanning.
We now also offer a specialist Level 4 course in aromatherapy, which is ideal for any experienced beauty therapist looking to expand on the range of treatments they can offer their clients.
Additional Learning Opportunities
Students can also benefit from a wide variety of additional learning opportunities, including diplomas in ear piercing and nail art, as well as an extensive programme of enrichment events, activities and competitions. The College holds an impressive success record at both regional and national competitions. Not only does this help profile new talents, but it also serves to enhance employability opportunities after studying.
The training and skill our students have gained has enabled them to pursue fulfilling careers in the beauty and related industries.
The College has a fantastic hair and beauty salon which is open to the public.
Students get to grips with working on mannequins before they interact with clients, ensuring they learn the skills necessary to carry out beauty treatments before working with clients, models or their peers in class.
