East Durham College Students’ Union held their Talent Show Competition last night and performing arts students Brodie Jobson and Nathan Harbottle walked off with the spoils.
The annual event was once again held in The Lubetkin Theatre, in the College’s Peterlee Campus, and over 100 people came along to watch the performances and support their favourite acts.
10 acts took to the stage to show off their talents, to the audience and a panel of judges, as; singers, dancers and musicians.
The judges selected the top three acts who then got the chance to perform again for the audience to vote for their winner.
Brodie, aged 18 from Peterlee, and Nathan, aged 17 from Hartlepool, gave a stunning performance of ‘Magic’ by American rapper B.o.B to run out the eventual victors, walking off with the £100 cash prize.
Levi Watson (aged 17 from Hartlepool) who performed a body popping street dance routine and Michael Mullender (aged 24 from Peterlee) who sang Adele’s ‘Make You Feel My Love’ were the other two finalists and worthy runners up.
The judging panel consisted of Personal Learning Coach Beth Gilmour, Student Services Assistant Hayley Ozturk and Student Liaison Officer Beth Pearson.
Hayley Ozturk said: “What a fantastic night! It was wonderful to see the great talent we have here at the College. Well done to everyone who took part and of course congratulations to all three finalists and the winners Brodie and Nathan – well done lads – you’ve certainly got talent!”
