Are you ready for the Next Level?

East Durham College's new and exciting two-year, full-time T-Level in Building Services Engineering (BSE) course can lead to all kinds of opportunities. With a BSE Level 3 T-Level qualification, you could move directly into employment working as a Building Services Engineering Technician or go on to an advanced apprenticeship within the construction sector, the building estates management and property maintenance sectors or into the emerging and fast-developing renewable technology market.

Building Services Engineering (BSE) is about the design, installation, maintenance and monitoring of the building services systems that you find in any modern domestic, commercial, or public building.

BSE systems can include plumbing & heating, electrical power & lighting, mechanical ventilation, sanitation, air-conditioning, fire and security systems and emerging renewable energy technologies that are necessary for providing and maintaining human comfort in the buildings that we live and work in.

What is the Building & Services Engineering T Level?

T-Levels are new courses created by the Government, and follow on from GCSEs when you move on to college.

A T Level is the equivalent to three A Levels - the fundamental difference between a T-Level and traditional A-levels is that a T-Level programme allows you to specialise in a single specialist subject which has the same equivalent value as three separate subject A-Levels. T-Levels also prepare you for the world of work with a 360-hour industry placement built into the course.

At East Durham College, our Building & Services Engineering T-Level programme has been developed in collaboration with a number of key partner BSE and Construction  employers in our region.  Successful completion of a T-Level qualification also credits a learner with up to 168 UCAS points which would provide entry into university onto a BSC degree in Building Services Engineering or a ‘Higher Technical’ Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Building Services Engineering.
