East Durham College student Jasmine Winch recently won the Business and IT Award at the College’s June Student Awards ceremony.
Jasmine, along with 7 other students from different course areas at the College, was presented with her achievement certificate and prize by Interim Principal Eugene McCrossan.
Jasmine, 17, from Horden, is studying on a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Business.
Lecturer Louise Johnson said: “Jasmine has improved with her attendance and punctuality over the last term showing a renewed level of commitment to the course and her studies.
“Jasmine’s class work is excellent; she always gives 100% effort in her written work and assignments. She is submitting distinction level work and is aiming to progress onto a Level 3 course in September.
“After a shaky start to the course Jasmine’s attitude has undergone a transformation since January. Her commitment has completely changed and she has grown into a dedicated and determined student. She frequently works from home and can be found working in the LRC to ensure that deadlines are met and is ahead in her current unit.
“Jasmine contributes to all group discussion and is comfortable working with her fellow learners. She has made some excellent contribution to group presentations and takes a lead role in organising others.
“I am delighted with Jasmine’s attitude and renewed commitment since January and am proud to put her forward for the student of the month award. She has grown into a student to be proud of and displays professional behaviour in everything she undertakes.”
