Childcare student Sophie Lee has received a Student of the Month award at East Durham College.

Sophie, 17, from Peterlee, has not gone unnoticed by her tutors who put her forward for this award.

But the hard work isn’t set to stop for Sophie who is aiming to go to university next year to study to become a primary school teacher.

Sophie said: “I am really proud to receive this student award from the College. I have been working really hard over the last few months and I am going to continue that as I look to get into university.

“I’ve loved my time on the childcare course here at the College and it’s my dream now to go on and become a primary school teacher.”

Sophie has been praised by her lecturers for her level of her individual word and also as part of the team in her childcare classes over her time at the College.

Lecturer Claire Sheppard said: “Sophie has been fantastic since joining the childcare course here at East Durham College.

“She always works really hard to complete her tasks to the best of her ability. When she can she is always ready to help her peers in class with anything they might need.”
