State-of-the-art Catering Facilities & Scene1
The College provides students with a great place to learn with two state-of-the-art commercial kitchens. All the equipment is of the highest quality and that which you would expect to work with in industry once qualify. All the food is high quality local fresh produce.
Students also gain real work experience through the College’s own restaurant, Scene1, and catering for a number of internal and external events.
Scene1 is a fantastic bistro style eatery and reflects the quality and high level of standards demanded of by our master-chefs in the making. A coffee shop style service and takeaway has also been introduced to reflect today’s style of hospitality service and further broaden student experiences.
Students also get to organise and run theme nights in Scene1, such as French Nights and Valentine's Day special events. These continue to be a success both for the students involved and the diners lucky enough to have been able to reserve a table.
Students have the valuable opportunity to access external and internal work placements to help broaden horizons and experience.
To help students decide if catering is for them, the Hospitality & Catering Department offer taster sessions, upon request, to potential students so they can come into the College and spend half a day with the kitchen or restaurant service team to provide a taste of what the courses entail.
To find out more about the taster sessions, please call Student Services on 0191 518 8222 and ask to speak to one of the Catering Team.
