NCFE CACHE Technical Level 3 Certificate in Childcare and Education
Once you have completed the certificate you will be able to progress to the final year of the Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator) and have a licence to practice in the sector.
This course is designed for students who are interested in working with children aged 0-7yr 11 months.
It reflects the latest developments and approaches within the early years sector. It aims to prepare students to work competently, safely and effectively and gain essential knowledge and skills to support progression into the next stage of the level 3 qualification.
This qualification gives you the underpinning knowledge and skills to work unsupervised or in a supervisory capacity with children and their families in a variety of settings once you have gained the full diploma in childcare and education.
The course requires students to spend two days per week on placement.
To enrol on the course you will require 5 GCSEs at 9-4 grade which must include Maths and English at a minimum of 4 grade. Or you may progress from level 2 in the subject area with a minimum of Merit and the GCSE Maths and English requirement. You must also hold a successful reference and a clear DBS (Disclosure Barring Service).
Entry onto any course at East Durham College is subject to final approval from the Assistant Principal. Where relevant, the term ‘entry requirements’ also includes DBS checks, references, fitness to practice, etc.
Some of the topics covered on the course include; Child development, Play and Learning, Health and Safety in Early Years settings, Working with parents and Others in Early years, Safeguarding, Observation and assessment, Supporting speech and language, Supporting literacy and numeracy and the Early Years Foundation stage.
Units are assessed internally, learners must achieve a minimum of a grade D to be awarded the unit. There is an external Effective Practice Study Task which is marked by awarding body.
The course requires students to spend two days per week on placement. Competence is assessed by an allocated assessor who will carry out direct observations of learners in a real work environment.

Loan funded if you already have a full level 3 qualification or are aged 24 and over on 31st August 2019 - contact us to check your qualifications and for details of how to apply for an Adult Learner loan, which you won’t have to start repaying until you earn over £25,725 per annum.
