College Adopts CQ Veterinary Nursing Qualification

East Durham College’s Houghall Campus is delighted to announce that its one of only 11 colleges in the country, so far, to offer the CQ Veterinary Nursing Diploma from September 2012.
CQ (Central Qualifications) is an Ofqual approved awarding body, dedicated to the veterinary profession and providing high standards of vocational learning.
Natalie Land, a lecturer in Veterinary Care and Animal Studies at the college, said: “As one of the top three land-based colleges in the country, we are very excited to be able to offer this prestigious, professional qualification, not only to full time students but also to those already employed in practice.
“Staff training and development is pivotal to the success of modern veterinary practices and CQ engages with colleges, training providers and students to develop and provide a wide range of veterinary nursing qualifications.
“Everyone at the College and CQ are committed to delivering a high quality and customer focussed service. By working closely in partnership with veterinary practices in the region, EDC and CQ will ensure that students develop the skills, knowledge and practical competencies required to advance their careers and expertise.”
Once qualified the students are also given the opportunity to be entered on to the RCVS Register of Veterinary Nurses.
