East Durham College has hailed Saturday’s Open Day & Spring Fayre as a massive success.
Hundreds of people visited the College during the event held at their Peterlee Campus. The College not only put on a fun day for local families but also had a good number of students applying for courses starting in September.
College Marketing & PR Manager Alistair Cummins-MacLeod said: “The event was a great shop window for the College and certainly got a lot of people through the door many of whom had never set foot inside this fantastic new campus.
“I’m sure the marketing for the event not only ensured we had a fantastic turn out on the day but also helped raise awareness of the College and the brand right across the region.”
A particular highlight of the event was the Legends Exhibition Football Match which included appearances by Michael Proctor (ex-Sunderland & Pools), Dean Gordon (ex-Middlesbrough) Stuart Brightwell (ex-Hartlepool Utd), Nicky Barron (ex-Hartlepool Utd) and Chris Swailes (ex-Ipswich). The Legends beat the College’s first IX 4:1 in a keenly contested encounter.
As part of the Open Day the College's Hair & Beauty students made up models in various 'prom styles' to demonstrate their skills and the kind of activities new students could look forward to taking part in.
