Staff at a local college proved they were game for a laugh this April Fool’s Day.
Staff at East Durham College’s Houghall Campus dressed up and performed a rendition of Katie Perry’s California Girls to a large audience of students and colleagues.
The equine staff at the College organised the performance as part of a fundraising day, aimed at raising money to help towards the cost of putting on several equine displays which are planned for the Campus’s Annual Open Day and Spring Fayre held in May.
The College staff who took part were Anne Symons (Equine), Helen Mitchell (Animal Care) and Laura Hogan (Personal Learning Coach) and Peter Whitfield (Land Based Resources Coordinator) made a surprise appearance as Snoop Dogg!
“The extra money makes a huge difference to the quality of the equine displays and enables the students to put on a show to really be proud of,” said Anne.
“Every year the equine students develop new musical displays and parades for the day. This year’s theme will be ‘Out of this World’ and promises to be a ‘spooky’ display,” she added.
The fundraising day was a huge success, raising nearly £200 to help towards the cost for materials and costumes.
The Houghall Campus Open Day is on Sunday 22nd May 2011, 10am till 4pm.
