College Receive Top Equality Recognition

East Durham College is delighted to announce it has just been presented with an important award in recognition of the high standards it has reached in the area of equality and diversity.
The College was presented with The Equality Standard ‘Gold’ Award from Equality North East, an independent not-for-profit company that works across the region with the aim of leading the way to a fairer future for all by celebrating the value of equality and diversity through innovative training, support and networking opportunities.
The Standard is a nationally acknowledged practical tool to help organisations of all sizes and sectors embed equality.
Simone Collpitts, director of teaching and learning at East Durham College said: “This is a great achievement for the College and it’s great to receive this recognition for equality and diversity at the College.
“I’m so glad that the College’s hard work towards creating a fairer society has been recognised by Equality North East and we hope to go from strength to strength.”
Helen Fletcher, senior equalities officer at Equality North East, added: “Our verification panel is delighted to confirmed East Durham College’s achievement and recognise that you plan and promote good equality and diversity practices within your workplace and with your service users.
“The College has now been added to the Role of Honour on our website and joins organisations such as The Sage Gateshead, Dickinsons Dees LLP and the North East Chamber of Commerce. Congratulation and keep up the outstanding work.”
