East Durham College’s Hair and Beauty Salon has received a huge honour from a renowned national trade association.
The British Barbering Association (BBA) has awarded the Peterlee Campus’s salon their top accreditation award; highlighting, not only their high training standards but also, their performance as a working salon.
The award isn’t just given to anyone, and it takes a lot of hard work to receive it, so all the staff and students at the College were thrilled to hear the news.
To qualify for the award, staff and students from The Salon had to complete a number of other relevant barbering certificates and qualifications.
East Durham College barbering lecturer, Alison Scattergood, has hailed the award as a wonderful testament of the hard work put in by the College over the last few years and especially the fantastic performances at last year’s industry competitions.
Alison said: “This is a brilliant achievement for The Salon at East Durham College.
“Everyone, both staff and students, has worked really hard over the last few years and we’ve had some fantastic student success rates on our courses here at the College, along with great results at a number of high profile competitions over the last year or so.
“We hope now being an accredited salon from the BBA that this will help raise our profile further, as both a training and commercial salon.
“We are passionate about training the barbers of tomorrow and helping our students be the very best they can be.”
