East Durham College will once again play host to a key careers advice event for local Year 9 school pupils and is inviting local employers and training providers to sign up.
The One Step Beyond event, will be held at East Durham College's Peterlee Campus on Thursday 13th February, is now in its fourth year and aims to help young people explore possible future careers to assist them while they make their option choices going into GCSEs.
Last year over 800 pupils from Seaham, Dene, St Bedes’, Shotton Hall and Wellfield schools attended the event to get information and ideas on what options were available to them when they finish school and beyond.
The College works in partnership with local schools and learning providers to bring together a wide showcase of what the local area has to offer from the likes of further education colleges, sixth forms, universities, the armed forces and local employers.
Event organiser Emma Widdowson said: “It’s very important to help young people as early as possible to start thinking about what they might do after school and what career they’d like to pursue.
“The choices they make in Year 9 will start to set them down particular routes, so it’s important that they make their options with an eye beyond school and even college.
It’s therefore vital to have as many training providers and employers there so we are really keen for organisation to get in touch with us and book a place to exhibit at the careers fair.”
If you would be interested in exhibiting at the event please contact Emma Widdowson, Careers Advisor at East Durham College on 0191 518 8282.
