College's Digital Partners Take Home Award

East Durham College’s digital partners, Adido, were announced as the winners of the Best Social Media award at the Wirehive 100 Digital Agency Awards last night for their work with the College.
The Wirehive 100 awards recognise work done by digital agencies within South-East England, honouring the 100 best agencies in the area as well as giving out awards in nine different categories.
Adido took home the Best Social Media award for their work on the College's Facebook and YouTube accounts, beating of competition from other competitors that included top brands such as Clinique, Kuoni and Pizza Express.
Jo Da Silva, Senior Digital Media Account Manager for Adido said: “It was a huge surprise. We beat campaigns for Clinique, Kuoni Travel and Pizza Express.
“Although some of the competitors had big budgets and social media accounts with lots of followers, with our campaign it just works perfectly and the 5000 followers we have got are all genuine followers who regularly and actively engage with the page.”
And Jo praised the East Durham College staff for their help in attaining the award and is glad to see that all the hard work on this long-term project has been recognised.
“It was a fantastic feeling as with the help of the East Durham College staff we’ve built the social media presence for the College up from nothing and it has been a long-term project for nearly two years now. It was great to get recognised for all the hard work that has been put in by everyone involved.”
Alistair Cummins-Macleod, Director of Marketing and PR at East Durham College, has praised Adido for their work in helping the College build up their social media presence over the last couple of years.
“When I arrived at the College there was no online or social media strategy, so it was great to have a clean slate to work from. Following the appointment of Adido we worked together to develop a strategy to partially focus on our 16-18 student recruitment and we have been overwhelmed by the results,” Alistair said.
“We have created and managed a fantastic social media presence for the College, one we feel really engages with users.
“Despite arriving late to the social media party our numbers on the College’s Facebook page and YouTube channel are way ahead of our regional competitor, based on the size of our student numbers.
"Our sites look great but also generate interaction and help us provide a better customer experience.”
