Overview of the course: 

Lorna King, has taught for many years in Further Education, with families, and in one to one sessions. She enjoys helping people to create, develop confidence and skills using textiles, hand and machine stitch, rag rugs, knitting, papers, paint, folding, manipulating and much more. She now has the pleasure of teaching workshops for East Durham College where you will all be able to take home a personal piece of work that you have designed and made.
Her workshops aim to be creative and fun. Beginners, intermediate and confident abilities, all are welcome. A lot of her personal work is made with recycled materials and objects but you may use your own personal stash!

Create beautiful personal work using a wide range of hand stitch techniques. You will be using embroidery threads, wool, wire, beads, sequins, old jewellery, buttons and anything else we can think of! The background fabrics can be anything such as calico, muslin, felt, jumpers, denim etc. Become creative by enlarging, overlapping, repeating stitches to develop a range of samples or finished pieces, including the use of quilting and dyes.
Requirements for this workshop include:
your own pretty items to embellish samples with, small or medium size embroidery hoops, embroidery and darning needles, scissors, thimble if you use one. I will supply a range of fabrics and threads for you to sample with.
