Progression after this programme could be to a OCR Cambridge Technicals Level 2 in Media. You will have exposure to a range of practical activities through workshops, live projects, events and work experience to develop practical skills and theoretical portfolios to prepare you for the next level of study.
You will have gained a basic knowledge of the radio industry in order to approach radio stations in order to gain an entry level role.

Overview of the course: 

The NFCE Level 2 programme gives a rounded approach, not just in one area of radio but to the industry as a whole. You will gain experience in planning and producing, researching and creating, reporting and advertising and using digital technology throughout. You will work in a studio and production room environment throughout the course and work in a live broadcasting senario.

Entry requirements: 

Ideally 3 GCSEs with grades 3 or above (including Maths and English) however, these are not compulsary.

Topics: 

The programme is 'learner responsive' which means we build projects around the learners who have chosen this programme of study. You will be given guidance over the development of projects, to help you develop independence.
You will study a variety of areas in the radio industry including; commercial production, radio journalism, radio producton and preparation for employment.

How is the course assessed?: 

The course is portfolio driven and your projects will be assessed internally before being externally verified to ensure marking is consistent.

Further study options after this course: 

Students could progress onto Level 2 OCR Cambridge Technical in Media for further study.

1 year part time (1 to 2 evenings per week)

Fees: 

If you have been a UK resident for the past 3 years and are under the age of 19 on the 31st August, you will not usually need to pay any course fees.

If you are in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance or Employment Support Allowance in the Work Related Activity Group or other work related benefit and you are undertaking this qualification to find work, your fees may be paid by the Government.

If you do need to pay fees they are:
