Despite The Snow, The Show Goes On

Despite the first snowfall of the winter, Howdens Joinery’s impressive Road Show Trailer was able to pay a visit to East Durham College’s new Technical Academy last week.
Roy Walker, Regional Sales Manager at Howdens Joinery, kindly organised for the trailer to visit the Academy primarily to enable the Fitted Interiors students to have a look around it, although the other construction trade students were also able to take advantage of the resource.
Fitted Interiors tutor Colin Hughes explained: “The students were able to speak to the Howden’s Sales Team and ask questions about product designs and installation techniques. This sort of opportunity really helps to enhance the students' learning experience. The students’ feedback was very positive which is great.”
The students showed particular interest in the purpose-designed and built kitchen for people with a disability - which incorporated a specially designed electrically operated hob unit that could be raised and lowered at the press of a button.
Mr Walker from Howdens, a leading trade only business who provide a range of kitchen, bathroom cabinet and joinery products, added: “I was very pleased with the number of students that took the time to visit the trailer and the interest they showed in wanting to learn about the products and fitting techniques. We would be delighted for the students to visit any of the Howden’s warehouse showrooms in the area in the future.”
The Technical Academy provides training in a range of construction trades including Gas & Electrical Installation & Maintenance, Plastering and Wall & Floor Tiling. It is also developing training in renewable energy technologies.
