East Durham College are looking for both male and female basketball players, aged between 16 and 18, to join their highly successful Basketball Academy.

The College is holding a Basketball Showcase Event at its Peterlee Campus on Wednesday 1st June, 10am-1pm, so potential students can find out more about the Academy.

Rose Fraser, Sports Development Officer at the College, said: “We have joined forces with the Durham Wildcats and Durham University to launch our improved 16 plus Basketball Academy that will start in September.

“The Academy gives local young people the opportunity to continue to play whilst studying at one of the best sports colleges in the North East.

“This is a very exciting partnership which I’m sure will result in a lot of positive outcomes for the future of basketball in the North East.”

The day will consist of a tour of the college and sports facilities, a chance to meet the coaching team and to take part in a showcase training session.

Students who join the Academy will receive a free full Nike training kit as well as access to free transport to and from the College.

Anyone wishing to join the Academy must enrol on to a full time academic course at the College.
